Simply because this is the best time to talk about it! Meetings in the morning, urgent matters in the afternoon, e-mails in the evening: the working day never stops for most of the year. Even during your rest periods! An analysis by Microsoft suggests that we should review our priorities, for greater efficiency and harmony between private and professional life.

According to the latest Work Trend Index published by Microsoft in June 2025, In fact, we no longer work one day... but three. And the risk? A fragmentation of attention, latent exhaustion and a loss of efficiency. For B2B companies, particularly in demanding sectors like food ingredients, this raises profound questions about the way we work together. At Nutrimedia, we help companies to rediscover meaning, clarity and impact in their organisation and communication. And that also means adopting a more agile, more human and more structured approach to work.

A new rhythm of work, fragmented and endless

The Microsoft study, based on an analysis of the Teams activity of thousands of users around the world, reveals a silent but massive transformation: the disappearance of time boundaries in the working day.

Peak activity is no longer concentrated solely in the morning or afternoon. We are now seeing three distinct moments of intensity :

Time of day

Timetable

Dominant activity

Detail

Morning

10h30

Meetings

Main activity, majority of visios, +15 % since 2021

Half day

14h00

Instant messages

Second peak in activity, +8 %, short trades up

Evening

21h00

Asynchronous working (e-mails)

+42 % of sending e-mails, drafting documents or deep tasks

Source : Microsoft Work Trend Index, June 2025

This third peak, observed in the evening, is particularly revealing. It reflects a tendency to postpone tasks requiring concentration to quieter times, away from the hustle and bustle of messages and meetings. A sort of «second working day», less visible but very real.

Very real risks for organisations

This new division of labour - more spread out, more fragmented - threatens the work/life balance and weakens productivity in the long term. Several effects have been documented:

Increased mental workload, due to the large number of interruptions.

Less deep work time (deep work), essential for innovation.

Risk of chronic cognitive fatigue, which reduces the quality of decisions.

Erosion of collective time, which are crucial to team spirit.

In a sector as demanding as that of food ingredients, where innovation, monitoring and coordination are permanent, this becomes a real strategic challenge.

What if agility offered a solution?

Rather than give in to infobesity and constant notifications, some companies are opting for more flexible working methods. agile, structured and sustainable. Agility is not just a matter for developers: it's a way of rethinking how we work in multi-disciplinary teams, in short, iterative, impact-oriented cycles.

At Nutrimedia, we use and adapt these principles in our work with marketing and R&D departments. Here's how:

1. Work in sprints

Rather than doing everything in parallel, we define short cycles (1 to 2 weeks), with precise objectives. Each sprint includes :

clear prioritisation

a concrete objective to deliver

an assessment to adjust

Example A quarterly editorial calendar built around a 10-day sprint (research, writing, validation, distribution).

2. Synchronise, without duplicating meetings

No more all-out visios. We prefer :

a kick-off meeting short and structured

asynchronous weekly monitoring using tools such as Notion or Trello

review points planned and productive

Example For example, for the redesign of a B2B website, we set a maximum of 4 key times for validating UX, design, content and SEO, with time dedicated to taking a step back.

3. Integrate deep work time

We block off time slots for intellectual production, with no notifications or requests. It's this «deep work» that enables us to produce fresh ideas and differentiating content.

Example Tuesday mornings: our customers know that Tuesday mornings are «offline», dedicated to strategy or the creation of high added-value content.

What you can do now at work

Adopting agile methods does not mean revolutionising your organisation overnight. But it does mean rethinking certain habits:

Problem identified

Agile best practice

Too many simultaneous tasks

Prioritising via a backlog and sprint planning

Long, unproductive meetings

Prepare a clear agenda + systematic timer

Lack of visibility on project progress

Shared visual monitoring charts

Substantive work always postponed

Protected slots in the diary for deep work«

In conclusion

The endless working day is a symptom. It reflects the urgent need to restore meaning, rhythm and limits to the way we work. For B2B companies, particularly in the food ingredients sector, this means better collective organisation and collaboration methods inspired by agility.

Why not try agility to (re)energise your projects? Have a great holiday!

Sources

Microsoft Work Trend Index, «Breaking Down the Infinite Workday», June 2025: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/worklab/work-trend-index/breaking-down-infinite-workday

Asana, «Understanding the Agile methodology» : https://asana.com/fr/resources/agile-methodology

["post-622","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry
["GET
